This song was written in 1997 by Kris Drever, Neil Dixon and Calum Carlyle as a collaborative effort, while in the band The Lapels. This is my solo demo recording from some years later.
lyrics
Well i was walking in the hood with a piece of wood
When a guy in a suit tried to tell me i was up to no good
And i said don't you try to hassle me 'cos my ass is on the line
There ain't no dope and i just can't cope, otherwise i'm doing fine
Screw in the bits, those wooden bits
Well Danny and his man said the drop off was at seven
Playing with the handle till a quarter to eleven
Finally the deal was made and i was in the clear
So i packed the bits away and i opened myself a beer
Screw in the bits, those wooden bits
Ah, woah
Thought i'd mosey on down to the Clipper Cafe
There was a girl there, she was a stripper by day
By night she packed a rifle and nobody could tease her
Takes a bucket full of trifle and a wetsuit to please her
Screw in the bits, those wooden bits
